 Thanks for your (clear) report.  I can only think your problem still
 happens with current rhythmbox and gstreamer from unstable, but if you
 have the time to check, that'd be nice.

 If your problem is still there, could you please try:
    gst-launch-0.8 gnomevfssrc location=/path/to/my/musicfile.ogg \
        ! spider ! volume ! audioscale ! audioconvert \
        ! $(gconftool-2 -g /system/gstreamer/0.8/default/audiosink)

 If that does not reproduce your problem, could you give me the value of
 the gconfkey in /system/gstreamer/0.8/default/audiosink?
 (gconftool-2 -g /system/gstreamer/0.8/default/audiosink)
