 You're right that /etc/mime-magic is wrong, but I think your problem is
 either caused by the Shared MIME Info database which resides in
 /usr/share/mime.  This needs to be fixed in /etc/mime-magic, but this
 is file is being obsoleted.

 [ There's also a third problem which is that gnome-vfs doesn't properly
 deal with MIME types aliases, but this is still unclear. ]

 I'm duplicating your bug to record the problem in Debian, but it is
 already reported upstream (in GNOME) and its upstream
 (freedesktop.org).  See:
