Bug#278153: gnome-cpufreq-applet: Doesn't work with ondemand governor

gnome-cpufreq-applet displays the correct frequency when I am using
the userspace governor, but if I use the ondemand governor in kernel
2.6.9, it always shows 1.20GHz (the maximum frequency of my CPU)
while sysfs says:

600000
