Bug#305149: gnome-panel: typing-break applet (formerly drwright) will not appear

Good day - I cannot get the typing break applet to appear. My previous
experience shows that it appears and disappears more or less immediately
as you change the setting in the keyboard properties dialog
(gnome-keyboard-properties).

I recently tried to disable the typing break via this dialog but the
applet remained in the taskbar and the enforced break still occurred.

Subsequently, I have attempted to re-enable the applet (it did
eventually disappear, I believe after logging out and in again) but it
will not re-appear. I have tried logging out and in, rebooting etc.

Please let me know what further diagnostics I can provide to help solve
this problem.
