 I wrote an initial patch with a proposed fix and brought it upstream at
 <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132734>, you might want to
 follow the discussion from there.  If you have time, I'd like you to
 test the attached patch.  Especially, I don't understand how the
 preference you mention should work and need help clarifying that.
