 Hi,
Gedit's configure script checks for intltool as well as checks for
libxml-parser-perl which intltool depends on. So if intltool-debian is
enough for gedit then the check for XML::Parser can be removed or gedit
should just explicitly build-depend on intltool.

        Hi,

This is a followup for Debian bug <http://bugs.debian.org/243950>.

I think I made a mistake when I said an intltool Build-Dependency would
 be ok, it is not.

The configure script does indeed a call to an INTLTOOL macro
(AC_PROG_INTLTOOL), but that macro checks whether the source tree as
been intltoolized with a particular intltool version, and that's all.

Since this is always the case (we do not call autogen.sh or
intltoolize, nor do we patch intltool files), it is not necessary to
 build-depend on intltool.

Since upstream's intltool depends on libxml-parser-perl, we need that
build-dep though, and intltool-debian wouldn't help. Depending on
intltool has an additional cost for us, which is to pull automake in,
 and that isn't needed.

I am closing this bug, please let me know if you think this is wrong.

   Regards,
