I guess you are right on thinking the problem is on loading us_intl.

Your problem lies here, probably. Take a look at this:

You should upgrade to xlibs >=3D 4.3.0.dfsg.1-9. Would you try that,
please?

I agree, would you mind filling a wishlist bug for that, though? I'd
suggest you would fill it directly to the upstream database, even, as I
don't think we're going to do such a patch specifically to Debian:
