I'm doing a bit of research on this bug. This is the output of someone
elses computer, who has a keyboard with multimedia keys.
_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc104",
"us_intl", "", "lv3:ralt_switch,altwin:hyper_win"
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc104",
"us_intl", "", "lv3:ralt_switch,altwin:hyper_win"
layouts = [us_intl]
model = pc104
options = [lv3 lv3:ralt_switch,altwin altwin:hyper_win]
overrideSettings = false
He has all the latest Sarge versions. The message appears when using the
us keyboard with dead keys, without dead keys, there's no problem.
In his case, he's prompted to choose between the Gnome settings and the X
settings, if he chooses the X settings, he has dead keys, but no multimedia
keys, if he chooses Gnome settings, the multimedia keys work, but he has
no dead keys.
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "us_intl"
Option "XkbOptions" "lv3:ralt_switch,altwin:meta_win"
EndSection
In this case, it seems that it's the known problem with us_intl. The one
that is supposed to be fixed in unstable. Unfortunately I could not
convince him to install the unstable xlibs to see if they fixed this.
