I see this on my system as well.  I have gnome-session 2.8.1-4 
installed.  I don't have a ~/.gnome2/session, but I do have a 
~/.gnome2/session-manual with the following contents:

"

[Default]
num_clients=1
0,RestartStyleHint=3
0,Priority=41
0,RestartCommand=mozilla -mail
"
