        Hi,

This is a followup for Debian bug <http://bugs.debian.org/268385> where
one can't paste non-iSO-8859-1 text from xterm to gedit.

I've traced that down, and it seems that xterm is perfectly capable of
translating whatever text is displayed from its current charset into
UTF-8 to repond to a copy-paste event requesting UTF-8 output. gedit
will then happily display the copy-pasted text, whether it comes from
 an ISO-8859-15 or UTF-8 xterm:

> xterm for example uses UTF8_STRING, which was added in XFree86 in 2000.=

Please give details on what your exact problem is, and how to reproduce
it, what's your locale, how are you copy-pasting, etc.

   Thanks,
