Not at all (I did run it both as user and as root).

More info: every time I select a menu entry this is printed (to
~/.xsession-errors):

sn_launcher_context_complete called for an SnLauncherContext that hasn't be=
en initiated

(gnome-panel:21113): Gtk-WARNING **: Ignoring the separator setting

and when I click a panel button only the second message is printed.
