For a few days I have seen this problem occurring, but I have not found
a solution for it yet.
udev removes vcs7 and vcsa7 files, causing gdm to write
"gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0" to the
syslog and X gets restarted.
This has happened to me in at least 2 computers with similar setup
(gnome-volume-manager from Sid/Sarge and it's dependencies).
At the point that udev removes the /dev/vc* devices, this is logged:
Sep 29 13:33:32 localhost gconfd (guest-4363): Received signal 15, shutting
down cleanly
Sep 29 13:33:32 localhost udev: removing device node '/dev/vcs7'

Both of the computers this has happened have nvidia cards using the
nvidia driver (in case that matters).

Since you can't reproduce it, I'm closing this bug. Please reopen it
(or mail me) if necessary.
