Severity: normal
I'm unable to play any video file I have, for a variety of different
reasons. In no particular order:
playing a file while xmms is also playing gives an error popup:
"OSS device "/dev/dsp" is already in use by another program."
Note that xmms was set up to use "esd", the esound daemon.
Exiting xmms without exiting esd will keep the error popup from
showing up; however, video still won't play.
Killing esd also stops the error popup, but video still won't play.
The above are for an avi video.
(thecell.avi)
--------------------------
Attempting to play an mp4 (TheBuEp01.mp4) casuses following to be
printed on stdout:
(totem:8956): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: file gstpad.c: line 4105
(gst_pad_send_event): assertion `GST_STATE (parent) >= GST_STATE_PAUSED'
failed
again, the video will not play, it goes into paused state.
---------------------
Attempting to play an mpg video, a few frames do display, a fraction
of a second or so, but then there's an error popup:
"Internal GStreamer error: pad problem. File a bug."
(robot-dex_test.mpg)
-----------------------
Playing a mov file does play the sound track, but no video display.
video area is not refreshed, just has garbage in it.
(nintendo.mov)
-------------------------
For some mov's the audio is corrupted (just very loud noise), and still
no picture.
(primordial75_1_92.mov)
----------------------
Playing a vob file gives me extreme slo-mo video, and no sound track.
(starship.vob)
-----------------------
*none* of my video files, in a bunch of formats, are playable!
(they all work fine in xine and vlc)
