Bug#299663: gnome-applets: mixer_applet2 no longer finds audio device

I had the same effects as previously described. However, starting 
gnome-volume-control as root solved this. After running it once as root 
it is possible to start it as normal user without any errors. The mixer 
'baseline' problem vanished after rebooting... With Greetings from King 
Bill...
