Package: gconf2
Version: 2.6.1-2
Severity: normal

After the last upgrade, in two different machines, when I start
X -Window and Gnome (via startx) a window opens with the following
messages:
------------------Message begins here -----------------
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.

The last error message was:

Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
-------------------------Messge end ------------------------------------

Actually some settings do not work, also after restarting X.

One PC has lot of Gnome packages installed, such has Nautilus,
Evolution, and so on, while the other contains a minimal installation
with metacity, gnome-panel, gnome-terminal and few other packages.

Any hint or suggestion?

Thank you

Gian Luigi Gragnani
