Package: nautilus-cd-burner
Version: 2.8.7-3
Followup-For: Bug #298891

Just wanted to add some information to this bug. I have a completely
different CD writer that does not work either. I did some research on
google and found other people talking about problems with the 2.6.8
kernel and burning CD's, so I did an experiment. I booted under an older
kernel and nautilus worked fine. So, I booted back into 2.6.8 kernel
and it quit working again.

Next I tried using xcdroast as myself. It did not work either.
Then, I tried becoming root and running xcdroast. It worked fine.
The info I found from searching on google seems to back up these findings.

I talked to someone else and they said that they think the problem may have
gone away in newer kernels, but 2.6.8 is the latest available kernel for sarge,
unfortunately.

So, it seems like the possible fixes to this problem are pretty limited.
1) Get the kernel maintainer to backport whatever makes the problem go away
in later versions.
2) Get a newer kernel version into sarge. (probably not likely after just
releasing)
or 3) Figure out a way to run nautilus-cd-burner as setuid. (I tried that,
but it doesn't take too kindly to that)

But anyway, just wanted to give more info to the maintainer. I really don't
think this is a nautilus-cd-burner issue - it's really a kernel issue.
Unfortunately, however, this bug renders nautilus-cd-burner pretty useless
at this point.
