Thanks for this information.

I asked a glibc maintainer.
He told me the application would still have to tzset() once in a while,
and that function is fixed in 2.3.3, you were right.

I would have liked to simply drop this patch, but 2.3.3 will not be in
Sarge, so the timezone bug is gonna remain.

So i'm leaving this drawback for now.
