Bug#282281: nautilus crash when viewing folder with multimedia content

Just to answer this point (as the preferred applicaiton issue
have been widely discussed).

nautilus does not use the mime system/preferred applicaiton to
render icon/previews. The crashes happening when viewing a folder
with multimedia content are probably gstreamer/totem bugs.
They are probably fixed by now but if you still encounter them,
please report a bug against nautilus about them (and if possible
provide the file which make it crash).

To find out which file, i move files from the command line and
retry opening the file with nautilus. I don't know a better
way (same as for fonts issues).

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=291899 is the
only issue i have with kde under gnome. nautilus/gnome-open does
not manage kde applications well as those have often parameters
(which konqueror supports) which gnome-open cannot handle (maybe
the first fix could be to have nautilus fake truncate those
argument before calling gnome-open ...
