Package: inkscape
Version: 0.41-4
Severity: normal

Now my inkscape segfaults at startup. The dialog about missing plugin
appears, and I press OK, then the main window flashes and inkscape
crashes. If I run ``inkscape'' from command line, the same thing
happens, and inkscape captures the segfault, does some emergency save,
then tells my to report the crash to developers.

I finally found out it's related to the Gnome theme I am using. I uses
``G26'' theme for controls (simple windows border, default icons) in the
smooth theme, and if I switch back to ``Default'' controls, inkscape
starts fine.

Since the gtk2-engines-smooth was upgraded a few days ago, it is very
possible that the bug is in smooth theme (incompatible engine and
theme?). Anyway, since only inkscape has this problem, I'm reporting
against inkscape. On a maybe related note, I do NOT have the GTK1
engine (package gtk-engine-smooth) installed.

I hope the maintainer can reproduce this bug, and if not, I am willing
to provide backtraces. (A binary package with debug symbols would be nice
to have, but it seems the maintainer uses powerpc. I can learn how to
build -dbg package myself, though.)

Thanks,
2005.04.28

Err, 0.6.0.1-3. Anyway, closing.
