Bug#308224: gnome-terminal: Weird incompatibility with Woody version of joe

When using gnome-terminal to remotely log in to a Woody machine, I have
problems with screen updates when using the Woody version of joe to edit
files. Local editing with the Sarge version of joe works fine.
