My point is it's a grave data loss bug within the context of the
gnome-applets package, whatever you consider the importance of the
package as a whole to be. I'd like to expect something like a text
editor that discarded my file in some circumstances would be considered
to be heinously buggy - the same applies to the sticky notes applet,
whose sole purpose of existence is to keep notes in. If it fails to keep
the notes its a grave bug, and within the context of its intended
purpose, it's not a minor data loss - it loses all of the notes.
Anyway, I'm not just trying to be self-important by marking this bug as
release critical. If this is not considered an RC bug in this software,
it's not appropriate to push an upload to sarge to fix it, and given
it's simplicity to fix and potential for annoyance, I don't think that's
a good outcome.
As an aside, it might be better to move the unlink() call so it only
runs in the case that writing the temporary file failed, similar to the
patch to fix #309119.
