Package: gdm
Version: 2.6.0.8.1

Kernel version: 2.4.27
debian release: testing

After updating linux using apt-get dist-upgrade gdm fails to start.
During the boot process linux tries three times to start
the gdm. Then the starting of gdm is skipped.

Shell login (not graphic based) is possible.

Startx fails, too. Using ps -aux shows that a gdm process is running.
gdm-stop fails to stop this uncorrectly running process.

Error messages from Xfree86.0.log file:
configured mouse: cannot open input device
Preinit failed for input device "configured mouse"
 xf860OpenSerial: cannot open device /dev/input/miceimed

               no core pointer
Fatal server error: failed to initialize core device

The mouse worked former without any errors.

 Best regards G. Rueckner
