Severity: important
There is a problem with GdkPixbuf, causing many applications to fsck
up, not show any images, and some, like Evolution, even crash. Firefox
still works fine though.
This happened after upgrading my Debian testing system.
gqview gives me:
(gqview:14196): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported
(gqview:14196): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(gqview:14196): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported
and so on... and then doesn't show any images.
Evolution starts with:
(evolution:14257): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported
(evolution:14257): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Image type 'xpm' is not supported
evolution-shell-Message: Killing old version of evolution-data-server...
(evolution:14257): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_scale_simple: assertion `src != NULL' failed
(evolution:14257): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_scale_simple: assertion `src != NULL' failed
and so on... and then crashes.
And Gnome doesn't want to show any pictures at all.

The installation script calls /usr/sbin/update-gdkpixbuf-loaders which
calls /usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders, hence I'm closing this bug.
