I do not have such a file in my gnome folders, so where the session  
info is stored, I have no idea. Only thing I know is, that the  
information is stored somewhere.

Additional info: My desktop has be steadely upgraded from Potato to Sid  
when Potato was the stable version, sometime around 2001. From then on  
I have used apt-get dist-upgrade.
