Bug#359629: gdm: May I suggest a workaround?

A friend had a similar problem after upgrading gdm. I had him purge gdm and re-install. After a few hours of head scratching, that solved the problem for him.

If that solves the problem to you, I would suggest that you increase this bug's priority, as it's bound to break for many others. He's not aware of having changed gdm's setup in an excentric way.
