Sorry, I might have misunderstood something. Do you simply have a
problem with the default behavior, that the cursor is restored to the
last position, or something else?

For me, this work as promised in gedit. If you can provide some more
detailed instructions for the bug I would be grateful.

I disagree, other GNOME applications, such as Evince also saves the
position in the file. (Well, at least the version in experimental does
this). Having an option to turn it off seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Mail to nnn-quiet at bugs.debian.org is filed in the Bug Tracking System
but is not delivered to any individuals or mailing lists.
