Hello,

I had to investigate a bit on this bug, and I found it discussed quite
in-depth on other BTSes.  I'm posting the relevant links here:

In my case (a Breezy chroot inside sid), just killing gam_server once
after gnome-panel started is enough to get the menus working again.
