        Hi,

Bug #351406 is one more bug caused by the non-respect of the
Recommends: field by package managers. Until the package managers are
fixed, maintainers are forced to use Depends instead of Recommends.

I technically consider this to be RC because policy clearly defines how
important Recommends are, and it's clear how they should be handled,
however, given the following arguments, I understand that it's not RC,
and wish for prompt resolution of this problem which renders the
 Recommends: field useless:
1/ the archive has lived until now with this problem
2/ the archive is cluttered of incorrect usage of Recommends instead of
    Suggests
3/ this might not be trivial to implement for the next release

Concerning synaptic, it's quite possible that the underlying apt-get
bug is the culprit. Since apt-get is not considered as an end-user
package management tool, I'll let the synaptic maintainer either work
around the problem at the synpatic level or cascade the problem on the
 apt-get package.

   Cheers,
