Bug#353485: gnome-mouse-properties: sensitivity or threshold settings have no effect

Since I got GNOME 2.12 and/or Linux 2.6.15 this week (all in one
dist-upgrade), my 'slow' mouse settings have disappeared and setting
them again via gnome-mouse-properties doesn't work: the settings simply
have no effect.
I used a slow setting, to avoid small mouse-hand movements, which is a
measure to prevent RSI. So, it's pretty important to me that this
works...
