I noticed that while some gtk2-engines (e.g. industrial, lighthouseblue, redmond95) either Recommend or Suggest their
old gtk1.2 equivalents, most of the themes don't. Besides, some GTK2 engines have no GTK1.2 equivalent:

ii gtk-engines-geramik 0.26-2 Geramik GTK1.x Theme
ii gtk-engines-industrial 0.2.32-3 Flat-looking GTK+ 1.x engine from Ximian
ii gtk-engines-lighthouseblue 0.6.3-1 LighthouseBlue theme for GTK+ 1.2
ii gtk-engines-pixmap 0.12-8 Pixmap-based theme for GTK+ 1.2
ii gtk-engines-qtpixmap 0.26-1 QtPixmap GTK1.x theming engine
ii gtk-engines-redmond95 0.12-8 Windows-like theme for GTK+ 1.2

ii gtk2-engines-pixbuf 2.2.0-2 Pixbuf-based theme for GTK+ 2.x

ii gtk2-engines-thingeramik 0.26-2 ThinGeramik GTK2.x Theme
ii gtk2-engines-thinice 2.4.1-2 ThinIce theme for GTK+ 2

Given the large number of GNOME 1.4 / GTK1.2 applications out there for which no GNOME/GTK2 replacement exists yet,
it would be desirable to ensure matching gtk/gtk2 themes whenever possible. As such, I would like it if
gnome-themes-extras had a matching gnome-themes-extras-1 that would pull matching gtk1.2 engines.

There's hardly any GNOME 1.4 package left for Etch, so I no longer see
any purpose in leaving this bug open. Closing.
