Bug#349513: gnome-cups-manager: fails to add remote printer

Package: gnome-cups-manager
Version: 0.31-1.1

Hi,

Network overview: there is a networked HP LJ, which is configured as a
raw printer on (sarge) cups server hosted on host gemini, for samba
sharing purposes.

Problem:
On host scorpio, a testing system, with no cups server installed, I tried
running gnome-cups-add. It asked me for the root pw with gksu, I gave it,
ran the wizard, set ipp://gemini/ipp/<queue_name> as remote printer in the
first page, browsed the CD provided by HP for the PPD file on the second
page, and completed the wizard.
Besides the PPD file being copied over to the /usr/share/cups/model on
scorpio, nothing seems to have happened. I cannot select the new printer
from any gnomeprint dialogue, and cannot find any config file telling that
a printer was added, nor figure out a way how to use the printer.

Regards,

Filip
