The "Netspeed Preferences" dialog allows chosing the "Network device"
from a list of devices in a dropdown box. On this system, the same
interface shows up multiple times, and selecting different versions for
the same device makes no noticeable difference.

I suggest getting rid of the multiple interface.

The list it shows here is
