 I tried with the following text:
    kls jdfksjdf//
    //ksdfkjsdhf kjh
    klsdfjkl sdjf//sdf sdfsdf
 and after the replace it was:
    kls jdfksjdf
    ksdfkjsdhf kjh
    klsdfjkl sdjfsdf sdfsdf
 which seems correct.  Could you please tell me what exact text you use?
 I need the output of "locale" too.
