Hi, afraid so :( backtrace is much the same, but I've
attached the new one. Packages used:

ii  libcairo2      1.2.0-3        The Cairo 2D vector graphics library

Do you have a debug build of the new libcairo2 version?
Would that help?

I notice that I have "nautilus-open-terminal" installed.
It's present in the old and new backtraces (although I think
I've clipped the top of the gdb output off this attachment).
I've just removed this to make sure it wasn't responsible:
it wasn't :(

To cause the SEGV, I'm filling in nonsense in the 'Server:'
field. At present, my win2k samba share is not available
anyway.
