Hi Justin :)

i'm using ext3 for all the system directories
i've mounted some other partitions using smbfs vfat e ntfs
filesystems, but none of them is mounted on directories used by the
system itself
anyway this is my actual mtab:

/dev/hdb1 / ext3 rw,errors=remount-ro 0 0
proc /proc proc rw 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs rw 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs rw 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs rw 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,gid=5,mode=620 0 0
/dev/hdb7 /home ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hdb5 /var ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/xp ntfs ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev,umask=022 0 0
/dev/hda5 /mnt/fat vfat rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,umask=000 0 0
tmpfs /dev tmpfs rw,size=10M,mode=0755 0 0
//192.168.153.200/pub /mnt/pub smbfs rw 0 0
//192.168.153.200/admin /mnt/admin smbfs rw 0 0
binfmt_misc /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc binfmt_misc rw 0 0
/dev/sda1 /media/usbdisk ext3 rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev 0 0

i reproduced several times this error both reinstalling the package
and removing and reinstalling it.
furthermore i also reproduced the error executing only the ucf command
included in the postintallation script, and the result is the same:

LANG=C ucf /usr/share/gconf/default.path /etc/gconf/2/path
mv: cannot move `/usr/share/gconf/default.path' to
`/USR/SHARE/GCONF/DEFAULT.PATH': No such file or directory
mv: cannot move `/etc/gconf/2/path' to `/ETC/GCONF/2/PATH': No such
file or directory

> How did you originally notice the problem?

after an ucf upgrade, but obviuosly i noticed the problem at the first
gconf2-common upgrade
note that, as i posted before, the problem is not related only to
gconf2-common; also the libpaper1 packaged shows it:

LANG=C ucf --debconf-ok /etc/papersize.dpkg-inst /etc/papersize
mv: cannot move `/etc/papersize' to `/ETC/PAPERSIZE': No such file or
directory

so, imho, the problem si related to ucf as i wrote in another post,
and not specific of gconf2-common
a riassignation of the bug should be considered

many thanks
