nautilus | File and Folder Operations | Ver: 2.14.x
Summary: File removal without write permisson
Product: nautilus
Version: 2.14.x
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Normal
Component: File and Folder Operations
AssignedTo: nautilus-maint at gnome.bugs
ReportedBy: joss at debian.org
QAContact: nautilus-maint at gnome.bugs
CC: pkg-gnome-maintainers at lists.alioth.debian.org
GNOME version: 2.13/2.14
GNOME milestone: Unspecified
It is impossible to remove a file in a directory that doesn't have the write
permission for the user, even if the user owns that file. This happens when
using shift+delete, or when emptying the trash.
In the case the user asks for a retry, nautilus should first try to change the
permissions to allow for this removal.
