Bug#359835: No kerning

 I tried with recent pango and inkscape, font Arial, and saw the
 kerning.  However, I am not sure inkscape uses Pango for the rendering
 in the drawing area.  I tried with Gedit to use Arial, and saw no
 kerning.

 Perhaps application need to turn it on explicitely?
