 Yes, I agree with your (past) argumentation in the bug, and I agree
 with the wontfix resolution.  One way to improve slightly the situation
 would be to ship a copy of the original file in the package or its
 md5sum and compare with the file in /etc to avoid requiring a purge in
 order to get it removed.  However, this isn't worth the effort; I
 suppose we could accept patches for that though.
