When trying to start synaptic:

don at kali:~$ sudo synaptic
synaptic: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0:
undefined symbol: pango_font_description_get_gravity

When in icedove and clicking on "write":

don at kali:~$ icedove
DOUBLE-CLICK: 250 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1
/usr/lib/icedove/icedove-bin: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol:
pango_font_description_get_gravity
don at kali:~$

(same thing happens in icedove when clicking on a GPG encrypted email
to open it)

This started about 3 days ago.  My system is fully updated/upgraded as
"sid" as of this date/time.
