Bug#390029:

confirmed for totem 2.18.2-1
here are more details:
if i am running gnome and totem _is not_ already running when the disc
is inserted, totem will be auto-launched and will start playing the
disc correctly.
if i am running gnome and totem _is_ already running when the disc is
inserted, totem will say "An error occurred. The source seems
encrypted, and can't be read."
if i am running xfce, regardless of whether or not the disc is
mounted, the "Play Disc CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive" option in the "Movie"
menu will be grayed out.
i am primarily an xfce user, so this bug is a big deal. there is no
way (that i've found) that i can play the disc using totem when
running xfce. luckily, i can use mplayer for the time being. i would
really prefer to use totem.
