Hi again,

I had time to have a look at this, and it seems to be caused by the
Network Monitor plugin, XChat-GNOME doesn't start if it's enabled and
dbus isn't running, it also exits directly if dbus is restarted with the
plugin activated.

I have forwarded this to the upstream developers, 
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471338

If you still have problems with dbus, I suggest deactivating the plugin
temporary.
