Hi,

Can you try this command and see if the problem is Rhythmbox or
GStreamer;

        gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=file:///path/to/song.mp3

You'll need the gstreamer-tools package.


Also, do you know what audio sink GStreamer is configured to use? You
can check this with 

        gconftool --get /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/audiosink

Or by using gconf-editor of course.
