Hi,
launching from terminal:

$ /usr/lib/gnome-applets/cpufreq-applet

steps to obtain the error:

- add to cpufreq-applet panel
- from terminal:
	* kill cpufreq-applet 
	* gnome will ask to reload the applet, do not answer yet
	* launch in terminal /usr/lib/gnome-applets/cpufreq-applet
	* click "reload" in the reload dialog
