Hi,
I think this is the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/102833

Here I'm seeing it with eps files, generated via gnuplot.
Since they're just regenerated via a Makefile, I doubt it's somewhat
dependent on the contents. Instead it seems as if nautilus adds a border
or not depending on visibility of the window or when the thumbnails are
generated (i.e. thumbnails generated when the folder is opened don't
have the border, thumbnails generated when a file is modified have it?)

As a test case I've just 'touched' a file, and it got a border around
the thumbnail. When renaming the file, it lost the border again.
