Bug#457843: gdm init script dies in log_daemon_msg

When "/etc/init.d/gdm start" invoked, it print 
  "Starting GNOME Display Manager: gdm"
but no '.' and newline

I tried comment out the line
| log_daemon_msg "Starting GNOME Display Manager" "gdm"
then the gdm is started fine.

However, other daemons using "log_daemon_msg" works normally. So
I file the bug against gdm.
