I'm afraid I can't reproduce that bug, either with 2.14 or 2.16 on amd64
architecture.
Could you please send the backtrace provided by bug-buddy (click on
details to see it)? If the crash is located in a library, it would also
be better to have the corresponding -dbg packages installed, otherwise
you should rebuild gedit with debugging symbols enabled.
