since i trapped into that bug for some times, when installing debian
on my friends computers, only giving them my personal image of an
install - i changed my username to what they wanted, and there i always
believed something's wrong with the kernel, since some devices didn't
want to work - not trying them out before i changed the username.
i discovered this also in gnome 2.8.
this just had to be reported since it cost me a lot of time searching
for a problem that did not exist! :-)
