Agreed. I was exhausted when I filed the report and was trying to get
the facts down. When I'm a bit more rested I can learn or think
through the software architecture.

On the other hand, if nobody reports a problem, nobody else has an
opportunity to fix it. At work I like it when people report real
problems (as opposed to laziness) because I can then understand and
fix them.

Somewhat ignorant here. X11 was a lot more monolithic when I last dove in
about 10 years ago. I would take an educated guess at the via driver.

Here I've copied ut some basic IDs and then later in the log most everything
is prefixed "via" (and dpkg says xserver-xorg-video-via is installed and
configured). The log also shows I don't have the unichrome graphics
hardware support dri. (I don't have any "/usr/lib/dri/".)

(II) Module ABI versions:
        X.Org ANSI C Emulation: 0.3
        X.Org Video Driver: 1.2
        X.Org XInput driver : 0.7
        X.Org Server Extension : 0.3
        X.Org Font Renderer : 0.5
(II) Loader running on linux
(II) LoadModule: "pcidata"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libpcidata.so
(II) Module pcidata: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 1.3.0, module version = 1.0.0
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.2

Before sending this I will have attached a copy of /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old.

I'm not sure if you wanted direct e-mail reply, mail to
433117 at bugs.debian.org, or something through
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=433117 or

Thanks for your attention and bearing with me as I learn Debian conventions
on bug reporting and interactions.
