Bug#434560: confirm libvte9

This bug appeared only tonight on this amd64 box, immediately after an
apt-get upgrade.

Another (powerpc) box has not had a libvte9 upgrade but is otherwise in
sync with unstable and is not showing this bug.

Ctrl-P is a stop-gap but it is hardly a usable workaround. PLEASE can
this be fixed real, real soon?

The bug disappears when running inside screen.
