 Oh, I noticed, but forgot I was running the sid version myself.

 Could you tell me where you do your tests?  In gedit or in a pure Gtk
 dialog?  (Gedit has some special IM hacks.)

 Could you attach your /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules file?
